Summary:
The primary responsibility of the LIMS Supervisor is to supervise all aspects of the daily operation of the LIMS area of the Laboratory. Responsibilities include maintenance of the LIMS and other supporting applications, as well as the implementation of new technologies/systems needed in the Lab. This position reports the statuses of all LIMS related issues to the Director of Water Quality & Laboratory Services on a regular basis.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Supervise all aspects of the daily operation of the LIMS, including providing for operational readiness of LIMS and all supporting applications.
  • Supervise LIMS staff including prioritizing, delegating, and reviewing work.
  • Work with Laboratory managerial and supervisory staff, SCWA personnel in various departments, and contracted LIMS personnel to improve the Laboratory’s data collection and reporting processes.
  • Perform planning of and assist in execution of tasks as needed for LIMS staff and to meet goals assigned by the Lab Director.
  • Supervise LIMS support and resource allocation to meet Laboratory’s needs.
  • Ensure management’s procedures are followed to maintain LIMS and computers in valid, secured state.
  • Provide training to LIMS staff and provide LIMS training to Laboratory staff.
  • Update and supervise LIMS scheduler system.
  • Supervise and maintain SCWA Laboratory data backup and LIMS user groups and roles.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • B.A or B.S in Computer Science required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • LIMS Administrator certificate preferred.
  • 3 years’ experience supervising the operation and maintenance of a Labware LIMS, 5 years' experience preferred.
  • Requires knowledge of programming languages, databases, development software tools for projects/reports and IT infrastructure and applications.
  • Must understand operating and maintaining a LIMS, drinking water laboratory operations, and federal and state drinking water quality regulations. 
  • Leadership, supervisory, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills are necessary. 
  • The ability to perform technical analyses of computer information is needed.  The ability to multitask, make sound decisions, and work well with others is essential.

 

Salary for this position will be commensurate with experience within a range of $80-90K. The Authority may accept an equivalent combination of education and experience to meet the requirements.
