The Suffolk County Water Authority held its 4th Annual Poster Contest Award Ceremony on Tuesday, June 2nd, celebrating the creative achievements of local students who submitted artwork based on the topic of “where does our drinking water comes from.”

Entries were received from school districts across Suffolk County, and after multiple rounds of internal review, four winners were selected from a group of finalists. Winners were honored with certificates, an SCWA-themed gift bag and a celebratory pizza party in the SCWA Board Room alongside their families.

“Honoring and highlighting the next generation of Long Island is a joy,” said SCWA Deputy CEO of Customer Service Frank Tassone. “Celebrating their success, along with the parents and teachers who support them, is a wonderful tradition at SCWA.”

The winners and their schools are as follows; Kaitlyn Mora (Maplewood Intermediate School), Nicholas Velez (Robert Moses Middle School), Natalie Giammarinara (Robert Moses Middle School) and Izan Farid-Valladares (Twin Pines Elementary School).

The poster contest remains one of SCWA’s most popular outreach efforts, encouraging students to engage their communities in a fun and educational way, that lets them learn more about the natural world around them.
