The National Drinking Water Advisory Council (NDWAC) has reappointed Suffolk County Water Authority Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Szabo to its membership. NDWAC, a federal advisory committee, provides advice and recommendations to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on national drinking water programs. Szabo's two-year term began on December 16, 2023, marking his first re-appointment to the council.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve another term on the council, allowing me to continue offering my experience in running a large drinking water utility,” said Szabo. “NDWAC has provided valuable guidance to the EPA on critical issues facing the drinking water industry and our customers. During my first term, we focused on enhancing the health and safety data that drinking water suppliers provide to customers. I am proud of our accomplishments and look forward to contributing more in the future.”
The fifteen-member council features representatives from water utilities, consultants, regulators, advocates and other stakeholders nationwide. Szabo, with thirteen years as CEO of SCWA, brings a crucial perspective as the head of one of the largest groundwater suppliers in the nation. His continued service on NDWAC reinforces SCWA’s role in shaping national policies and standards related to drinking water quality.
