The Suffolk County Water Authority has installed a half-mile of new pipeline in East Moriches to serve new customers in the vicinity of Smith Street and Bay Avenue.
Roadwork Inc., an SCWA contractor, installed the 2,654 feet of eight-inch PVC pipe over a week-long period. Five of 12 residents have already signed agreements to receive service, the 40 percent needed to move forward with the main extension.
“Our mission is to bring the safest and most reliable water supply to as many customers as possible,” said SCWA Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey W. Szabo. “This project is just another example of our commitment to that mission.”
The Suffolk County Water Authority is an independent public-benefit corporation operating in accordance with the Public Authorities Law of the State of New York. Serving approximately 1.2 million Suffolk County residents, the Authority operates without taxing power on a not-for-profit basis.
