    Suffolk County Water Authority Completes Three New Advanced Treatment Systems

    The Suffolk County Water Authority announced that three new Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) water treatment systems have been completed and put into service in the Town of Smithtown. These state-of-the-art treatment systems are specifically designed to remove the emerging contaminant 1,4-dioxane from the drinking water SCWA supplies. The new systems treat water from three separate public supply wells on Falcon Drive in Hauppauge.

    Suffolk County Water Authority Secures $1.25 Million for Water Main Extension Project in Westhampton

This project will connect up to 64 homes currently reliant on private wells, which have been impacted by PFAS contamination.     New Water Mains to Improve Service, Quality and Pressure in Patchogue

    The Suffolk County Water Authority recently completed a major water main improvement project on Shaber Road, Louis Avenue and Clinton Avenue in Patchogue. Approximately 1,400 feet of new, larger ductile iron water main replaced the aged, and undersized cast iron water main. As a result of this project, the surrounding area will see improved water distribution and pressure, as well as fire service.​

    The Suffolk County Water Authority installed approximately 1,480 feet of new ductile water main has been on Merrick Road, Park Avenue, Roberts Road West and Cypress Lane in Shirley. Completed on March 6, this new main was installed to eliminate dead ends in the system. It will also improve water distribution and pressure, as well as fire service.

    Water Service Improvements to Be Made in West Sayville

    The Suffolk County Water Authority mobilized to replace approximately 1,900 feet of old water main on Rollstone Avenue in West Sayville. The existing water main has reached the end of its useful life and will be replaced with new ductile iron water main. This project will improve the distribution of water, water pressure and fire protection in the area. In 2022, SCWA replaced more than 1,500 feet of aging water main on nearby Atlantic Avenue in response to rusty water complaints from customers.
