The Suffolk County Water Authority this week continues work on a 3,491-foot water main extension project on Westphalia Road and County Route 48 in Mattituck.

The project will connect existing water main on Westphalia Road east to County Route 48 and east on County Route 48 to Love Lane. The project will initially serve approximately 39 new customers when completed.

The new water main ranges from 6" to 16" diameter pipe at different locations within the scope of the project.

"We’re pleased to welcome more North Fork residents to our customer base," said SCWA Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey W. Szabo. "They will now have a water supply that is constantly tested for safety and that will be available to them even during power outages."

The Suffolk County Water Authority is an independent public-benefit corporation operating under the authority of the Public Authorities Law of the State of New York.
