Mario Mattera of St. James was sworn in as a Suffolk County Water Authority Board member on Monday night at SCWA headquarters in Oakdale. Mr. Mattera currently serves as business agent for Plumbers Local Union #200 of Ronkonkoma, where he is trustee for union funds and responsible for the management of $150 million in pension funds, welfare and annuity. Mr. Mattera has also served on the Suffolk County Workforce Housing Commission since 2008; the Suffolk County Consumer Affairs Plumbing Licensing and Fire Protection Board since 2009; the Riverhead Empire Zone since 2010; the Apprenticeship Board since 2003; and Helmets to Hardhats, benefitting veterans, since 2007.
