The Suffolk County Water Authority recently held a contest to entice customers to sign up for e-billing, SCWA’s electronic billing program that allows customers to receive and pay their bills electronically. The winner of the contest was Maria Clavijo of Brentwood, who was randomly selected from a pool of more than 27,000 e-billing customers to win a brand new iPad. "We felt this was a great way to promote an efficient and environmentally-friendly billing process that will dramatically reduce paper use as more customers sign up," said SCWA Chief Executive Officer Jeff Szabo. Said Clavijo about enrolling for e-billing, "People can forget to pay a bill that comes every three months. For me, the most important thing is to pay bills in time. This program automatically deducts money to pay my bill from my account, and gives me one less thing to worry about."
