Description:

The Suffolk County Water Authority is seeking a Laboratory Compliance and Operations Officer to assist the Director of Water Quality and Laboratory Services and Laboratory Managers in overseeing all aspects of the Laboratory’s operations to ensure water quality meets all federal and state regulations. This position reports the statuses of all issues in areas of responsibility to the Laboratory Director, QA/QC Officer and Laboratory Manager on a regular basis.

The successful candidate will:
• Assist QA/QC Officer in monitoring Laboratory Quality System (LQS) adherence and data quality through internal audits, investigate, recommend and coordinate corrective actions, monitor corrective action effectiveness, document processes and report statuses to the Laboratory Director.
• Manage all aspects of the LQS in the QA/QC Officers absence.
• Assist the Laboratory Director in monitoring the technical operation of the Laboratory including QA/QC program to ensure testing performed is conducted in compliance with NYSDOH ELAP regulations.
• Assist LIMS Specialist to ensure SCDHS Minimum Monitoring Requirements are attained.
• Work with LIMS department to implement QA/QC requirements in LabWare.
• Implement tracking of inventory for the Laboratory.

Qualifications:
• B.A. or B.S. Degree in Chemistry, or related science with at least 24 Chemistry credits required.
• Minimum 10 years managerial experience in a large drinking water testing laboratory, preferred 5 years managerial experience in SCWA Laboratory.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary.
