Description:

The Suffolk County Water Authority is seeking a Junior Programmer for our Information Technology Department located in Oakdale, NY. This individual will be working with the programming team to develop and implement solutions for the existing ERP system. This is a great opportunity for an individual with a passion for coding and an eagerness to learn.

Responsibilities include:
• Working knowledge of software development methodology
• Participate as an active team member, practice effective listening skills, and effective collaboration skills
• Work with appropriate department personnel to identify and specify complex business requirements and processes for SAP / ERP computing environment
• Implement technical solutions through ABAP programming
• Develop technical specifications
• Debug and correct ABAP program errors
• Perform ABAP code reviews

Qualifications:
• Programming experience with a minimum of 2 years
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or related major required
• Ability to work in a team environment with both employees and consultants
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the desire to learn
• Ability to multitask and maintain a high level of organization

Preferred Qualifications:
• SAP ABAP programming experience
• Object oriented programming experience

*The Authority may accept an equivalent combination of education and experience to meet the requirements*
