Description:

SCWA Background:

The SCWA Education Center was created to help our customers learn about the source of their drinking water and how it is treated, tested and delivered to their tap. We believe that educating our customers about their drinking water helps us to achieve one of our most important goals—the protection of our greatest natural resource, the sole source aquifer that provides all of our drinking water on Long Island. A video game has been created to allow education center visitors the chance to drive from location to location to obtain meter reads on customer water meters.

Internship Details:

The intern will complete the following revisions to the game: addition of eleven 3D landmarks (this is the total number for all 3 communities), addition of trees surrounding houses, a change to the width of the vehicle as it appears on screen and revisions to the voice over dispatcher feature. The nearly completed community is Montauk/Hamptons/North Fork. The two additional communities will be downtown Patchogue and Fire Island. The model will need to be rendered approximately 60 times a second.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge in creating high-quality 3D art that has a relatively low polygon count, since the model will need to be rendered approximately 60 times a second.
  • No prior job experience necessary.
  • Experience with Unity is a must.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Must be goal oriented, organized, motivated to learn.
  • Must be a Suffolk County resident.

This is a paid internship and employment will begin in May and continue through mid- August. Work hours to be determined, with a maximum of 28 hours per week.

Interested candidates should submit their application/resume via the SCWA website (www.scwa.com and click on Career Opportunities, then select the appropriate position). Portfolios and sample work should be included in the application. Applications for this position will be accepted until April 6, 2023. COVID-19 vaccination is required.
