The successful candidate will partner with the Chief Engineer and all engineering disciplines to ensure the timely design, scheduling, execution, and project management of various SCWA construction projects.

Description:

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage a team of electrical engineers involved in developing specifications, drawings, and contracts for work performed on various SCWA waterworks facilities; includes projects for pump stations, booster stations, filter systems, and all ground and elevated water storage tanks.
  • Oversee the Cellular Program Manager who administers legal agreements, site access, Construction Document reviews, and construction oversight of cellular carriers on elevated structures.
  • Analyze costs, develops budgets, and prepares estimates and capital authorizations for electrical projects.
  • Prepare contracts for miscellaneous electrical equipment.
  • Provide technical guidance to contractors and SCWA field teams during the construction phase of projects.
  • Prioritize and schedule projects in conjunction with project managers and other department disciplines.
  • Research new technologies and materials to improve energy efficiency and reduce construction costs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology required.
  • NY State Professional Engineers License required or ability to obtain license within 24 months of hire.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Electrical Engineering required.  Seven (7) years engineering experience and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical systems including power distribution, instrumentation, and controls (to include SCADA), communications and automation systems.
  • Knowledge of budgets, specifications, and procurement contracts.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other SCWA employees and outside contractors.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite along with AutoCAD experience.
  • Valid NYS driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
