The Suffolk County Water Authority replaced approximately 600 feet of outdated cast iron water main on Old Meadow Bend in Westhampton Beach with a larger, more durable Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) water main. The project will address low water flow, improve fire protection, enhance distribution efficiency and increase overall water pressure for residents.
“Replacing the undersized cast iron main with larger PVC main is essential to providing more reliable water service to our customers,” said SCWA Chairman Charles Lefkowitz. “By upgrading outdated piping now with modern materials, we can ensure uninterrupted service and greater reliability for the future.”
Old Meadow Bend is a residential community where consistent water flow is critical for daily needs and emergency response. The larger PVC main will improve water pressure and fire flow, enhancing safety and reliability for the neighborhood. With colder weather approaching, replacing older mains prone to breaks also reduces the risk of service interruptions.
This project is part of SCWA’s ongoing commitment to upgrading infrastructure and ensuring Suffolk County residents receive the highest quality water service.
