The Suffolk County Water Authority is replacing approximately 1,560 feet of aging and undersized cast iron water main in East Setauket. The work spans portions of North Country Road, Jones Street, Bruce Place, Brewster Lane and Run Road, where existing pipe is being upgraded to larger ductile iron and copper water main. The project is designed to improve the distribution of water and fire flow capabilities throughout the area.
“This work is part of our broader initiative to modernize and strengthen the water distribution system across Suffolk County,” said SCWA Chairman Charlie Lefkowitz. “By investing in newer, larger pipes, we’re ensuring that residents have the water capacity they need—whether it’s for daily use or in the event of an emergency.”
New York State Assemblywoman Rebecca Kassay also expressed her support for the project, stating, “These infrastructure upgrades are not only critical for public safety, ensuring that our fire fighters have the water pressure that they need to protect the lives and property of our residents, but also for ensuring environmental and operational resilience. I’m proud to support the Suffolk County Water Authority in delivering meaningful improvements to neighborhoods in our district.”
Crews are currently on site performing the upgrades, with work expected to conclude by early July.
