Contractors for the Suffolk County Water Authority work on the replacement of old water main with 1,300 feet of new ductile iron water main in Mastic Beach.
The Suffolk County Water Authority recently completed work to replace approximately 1,300 feet of aging water main on Dahlia Drive, Riviera Drive and Longfellow Drive in Mastic Beach. The old pipe was replaced with new ductile iron water main to improve service reliability for customers in the area.
The project was part of SCWA’s continuing efforts to upgrade water infrastructure and strengthen system performance and resiliency across its service territory.
“This upgrade has strengthened the system in Mastic Beach and will help limit service disruptions in the future,” said SCWA Chief Executive Officer Jeff Szabo. “Each of these projects makes a meaningful difference for the communities we serve and ensures the long-term health of our water distribution network.”
The replacement was completed in August with final restoration of the roadway expected in 2026.
