The Suffolk County Water Authority recently completed work to replace approximately 2,300 feet of aging cast iron water main along Carleton Avenue and surrounding streets in Islip Terrace. The project replaced sections of water main that had experienced numerous breaks in recent years with new ductile iron pipe, improving water quality and reliability for local customers.

SCWA Chief Executive Officer Jeff Szabo visited the project site with Suffolk County Legislator Trish Bergin, who represents the area, to review the completed work and discuss its benefits for the community.

“This project was an important step in strengthening the reliability of water service in Islip Terrace,” said SCWA Chief Executive Officer Jeff Szabo. “By replacing older sections of main with modern ductile iron, we’re ensuring our customers receive consistent, high-quality service while reducing the likelihood of future breaks.”

Legislator Bergin praised the project and the partnership with SCWA. “I am grateful for SCWA’s commitment to investing in our community’s infrastructure,” Bergin said. “These improvements will have a lasting impact on residents, providing them with the dependable water service they deserve.”

Construction was completed on October 10th following several weeks of work along Carleton Avenue and nearby streets.
