Crews work in Head of the Harbor, replacing old water main with new, ductile iron water main.
The Suffolk County Water Authority (SCWA) is underway replacing approximately 2,800 feet of aging water main with new, ductile iron water main on Moriches Road, Fifty Acre Road, Cordwood Path and surrounding streets in the village of Head of the Harbor.
This infrastructure upgrade will enhance water distribution, improve overall water quality and system reliability for years to come. The project is part of SCWA’s continued efforts to modernize its water system and ensure customers receive the highest quality drinking water.
“Our top priority is reliably providing high quality water to our customers,” said SCWA Chief Executive Officer Jeff Szabo. “Investments like this not only address current concerns but position us to serve our customers well into the future.”
“I am grateful that the Suffolk County Water Authority continues to make smart investments into Head of the Harbor,” said Mayor Michael Utevsky. “When this project is complete, our residents will enjoy enhanced water quality and reliability. “I am also happy to report that SCWA will be responsible for the cost of repaving the road after completion of the work. It will be a great improvement for the community.”
The project began in March and is expected to be completed by mid-April.
