The Suffolk County Water Authority will be hosting an informational meeting for businesses that are interested in doing business with the water agency. The forum is intended to educate vendors on the types of contracts that SCWA offers and the process that they can follow to submit a successful proposal. SCWA contracts for more than $115 million per year in a diverse range of services, that includes everything from major water main replacements projects and water storage tank rehabilitations to bill printing and I.T. infrastructure.
“As a businessperson, I understand the complexity that comes with bidding on municipal contracts,” said SCWA Chairman Charlie Lefkowitz. “We want to make this as simple as possible for potential contractors and let them know about the wide range of services that we are looking to hire for. The Suffolk County Water Authority is open for business, and we want to bring as many vendors into the process as we can.”
Through the forum, SCWA hopes to reach women, minority and veteran owned businesses, that may not have been aware of these business opportunities. As part of its strategic business plan, SCWA adopted a goal increasing the number of minority and women owned businesses in its procurement process. Through proactive outreach directly to vendors, they hope to make significant progress toward that goal.
The forum will be held on Wednesday, November 8th at 11 AM. Participants can join virtually via zoom or in person at the SCWA Education Center located at 260 Motor Parkway, Hauppauge. Those interested in attending should call 631-563-0355 or email Theodore.Aponte@scwa.com to register.
