Crews work on Cedar Point Drive in West Islip, replacing outdated water mains with new, high-quality P.V.C. pipes to ensure better water quality and reliability for customers.
The Suffolk County Water Authority is replacing approximately 5,000 feet of aging transite water main on Cedar Point Drive in West Islip as the existing water main reaches the end of its useful life. The new P.V.C. water main will provide a more durable and reliable water delivery system for local residents, reducing the risk of service disruptions and improving overall water quality.
“This work is vital to delivering the highest quality water to our customers in West Islip,” said SCWA CEO Jeff Szabo. “Upgrading this infrastructure ensures a safer, more reliable water supply and reinforces our commitment to modernizing the system for the benefit of the community.”
Cedar Point Drive is a residential area where dependable water service is essential for daily life and emergency response. Replacing the outdated water main will help prevent breaks and improve water distribution efficiency. The project is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.
This upgrade is part of SCWA’s ongoing effort to enhance its infrastructure across Suffolk County, proactively addressing aging water mains to provide customers with the best possible service.
