SCWA Deputy CEO of Customer Service Frank Tassone (middle) met with Suffolk County Police Department officers and observed their training at SCWA’s Oakdale campus.

The Suffolk County Water Authority partnered with the Suffolk County Police Department to host an active shooter training drill at SCWA’s Oakdale campus. The training exercise gave officers an opportunity to conduct hands-on emergency preparedness drills in a real-world setting.

SCWA Deputy CEO of Customer Service Frank Tassone joined members of the SCPD to observe the drill, speak with officers and thank them for their continued service to the community.

“This was a great opportunity for us to support our local law enforcement,” said Tassone. “We were happy to open our doors to the SCPD for this type of training and to do our part keep our community safe. It was eye-opening to see what these officers train for and the level of preparation and professionalism they bring to the job every day.”

“We’re grateful to SCWA for the continued partnership and strong relationship with the Suffolk County Police Department,” said Deputy Inspector Rafael Cano. “It is invaluable for our officers to train and prepare in a real-world setting to be best prepared when they may be needed in our community.”

The training included coordinated response strategies, tactical movement and scenario-based exercises.
