The Suffolk County Water Authority held its 3rd Annual Poster Contest Award Ceremony on Tuesday, May 20th, celebrating the creative achievements of local students who submitted artwork focused on the importance of water and its protection.

More than 250 entries were received from school districts across Suffolk County, and after multiple rounds of internal review, six student winners were selected from a talented group of finalists. Each winner was honored with certificates, SCWA-themed giveaways, and a celebratory pizza party in the SCWA Board Room alongside their families and teachers.

“This event is really one of the highlights of the year,” said SCWA Chairman Charlie Lefkowitz. “Bringing in the students to really celebrate their success, along with the parents and teachers to support them, makes this a great experience. We hope that everyone walks away from this with a sense of how important SCWA is to our community.”

The winners and their schools are as follows; Olivia Xie (Paumanok Elementary), Zarah Gomez (West Babylon Junior High School), Zachary Cloke (Paul J Bellew Elementary), Serena Chabra (Signal Hill Elementary), Genesis Stewart (Ridge Elementary) and Emma Nopanen (Babylon Jr. Senior High School).

The poster contest remains one of SCWA’s most popular outreach efforts, encouraging students to engage with topics that impact their communities while building awareness about the value of water and environmental responsibility.
