Three weeks ago, the SCWA expedited a project to replace more then 2,600 feet of aging water Main on West Avenue and nearby streets in West Sayville. This new and larger ductile iron pipe will help to address low water flow and rusty water conditions in the neighborhood.

Left to right: SCWA Board Member Charles Lefkowitz, SCWA Chairman Patrick Halpin, Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter, Legislator Anthony Piccirillo, Construction/Maintenance Supervisor Stephen Vander Borgh and Deputy Director of Construction/Maintenance Christopher Given turn the main line valve on to put the new main in service. The next step will be for each home on West Avenue to have their service lines disconnected from the old water main and connected to the new one, which should take approximately two weeks.
