Drinking water provided by the Suffolk County Water Authority is pure, safe and constantly tested. Our top priority is to provide our customers with the highest quality drinking water. In fact, the quality of our drinking water surpasses the tough standards of both New York State and the Environmental Protection Agency. We maintain one of the most sophisticated laboratories in the country, and test for far more chemical constituents than we are required to, 365 days a year.
Bottled water? It’s regulated by the Food and Drug Administration, which may require bottled water manufacturers to test far less frequently. Additionally, you may be surprised to find out that many bottled waters are not from some pristine mountain stream, but actually come from municipal water supplies before being processed in factories and sold in stores. Plus, you never know how long bottled water may have been sitting in a store, or whether the bottle contains chemicals that can leach into the water. And finally, there’s the price—for the price of a gallon of bottled water, you could buy about 1,000 gallons of SCWA water!
So to help you kick the bottled water habit, we’re offering you the great looking, reusable, stainless steel bottle you see at the top of this page. For free. If you want to save a ton of money and drink some of the best water you can get anywhere, stop by to pick up a bottle at either our administrative headquarters, located at 4060 Sunrise Highway in Oakdale, or our Customer Service office, 2045 Route 112, Suite 5 in Coram (Monday through Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm).
