SCWA Nearing Completion of Project that Will Prevent Water Main Breaks,
Ensure Better Water Pressure and Fire Protection in Area
The Suffolk County Water Authority is nearing completion of a project in downtown Kings Park that will greatly improve the distribution of water and fire protection in the hamlet.
The project, which involves the replacement of more than 7,000 feet of aging and undersized water main with larger ductile iron water main on Main Street and adjoining streets in conjunction with a Suffolk County sewer installation project, is expected to be completed in the coming weeks. The result will be a tremendous boost to the water system in the downtown area.
“Water infrastructure projects are vital to our mission here at SCWA,” said SCWA Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey W. Szabo. “We continue to strive towards our long-term goal of upgrading water infrastructure throughout the entirety of our service territory”
The Suffolk County Water Authority is an independent public-benefit corporation operating under the authority of the Public Authorities Law of the State of New York. Serving approximately 1.2 million Suffolk County residents, the Authority operates without taxing power on a not-for-profit basis.
