Due to the severe cold, the Suffolk County Water Authority is currently repairing water main breaks in Lindenhurst and West Islip.

The Lindenhurst break on Jackson Avenue initially had five to six blocks that were impacted. SCWA crews have turned off the water supply to the area and are currently pumping water out. While eight customers are without water, crews are isolating valves to restore service to parts of the area as water levels are reduced.

In West Islip, the break on Southside Avenue has caused flooding in a cul-de-sac, SCWA has throttled water to reduce further flooding. Crews are on-site and preparing to make the necessary repairs to restore normal water flow.

"We are working diligently to resolve this issue and restore service as quickly as possible," said SCWA Chairman Charles Lefkowitz. "Our teams are on the ground, managing the situation to ensure that residents experience minimal disruption."

SCWA continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates as repairs progress. Residents are encouraged to contact SCWA at 631-698-9500 for any further inquiries or concerns.
