Application Procedure

To apply for a SCWA hydrant permit, please complete the online application form below. Once your submission is reviewed, an SCWA representative will contact you to schedule an appointment.

Permit Requirements

Permits are issued only when all of the following requirements are met:

  1. Company Identification: Name, address and telephone number must be permanently affixed on both sides of the vehicle (minimum 3" lettering).
  2. Required Equipment: Vehicle must be equipped with an adjustable hydrant wrench, an air gap two times the diameter of the fill pipe and a 1.5-inch fill pipe gate or ball valve permanently mounted on the fill pipe.
  3. Note: If the tank lacks a filler pipe and air gap, a Reduced Pressure Zone Assembly (RPZ) must be permanently mounted on the vehicle with a current passing test form.

  4. Documentation: A copy of the vehicle registration must be presented. Pesticide applicators must also provide a copy of their NYS pesticide business/agency registration.
  5. Non-Inspection Permits: If a vehicle inspection is not required, the RPZ and current passing test form must be brought to the designated SCWA office.

Payment

Check or Money Order will be accepted as payment for all permit and inspection fees.

In certain instances where more than five vehicles from the same company require inspection, SCWA may be able to perform the inspection at your premises.
