The Suffolk County Water Authority this week replaced 1,552 feet of water main on Yuma Lane in East Islip as part of SCWA’s infrastructure improvement program. The new ductile iron pipe is larger than the replaced transite pipe, and so will improve water pressure and fire protection in the neighborhood. The new pipe also provides protection against future water main breaks. "SCWA invests millions of dollars every year to make sure that our water infrastructure is strong and ready to provide safe drinking water to our customers both now and for generations to come," said Jeff SCWA Chief Executive Officer Jeff Szabo, who was on site along with Suffolk Legislator Tom Cilmi to review progress on the project on Thursday. "The SCWA continues to be a wonderful partner in service delivery to our residents," said Legislator Cilmi. "This is another great example of the proactive work they do to ensure our water infrastructure is functioning at the highest levels for years to come."
