Whoa! High Usage Detected.

Your usage is significantly higher than your home's expected baseline.

You could simply be using more water than average (and we will address that in your Action Plan next), but before we look at habits, we need to rule out a hidden leak.

Our Multi-Pronged Leak Check:

  • speed

    1. The Meter Test

We'll check if water is flowing when everything is turned off.

  • wc

    2. The Toilet Dye Test

We'll check the #1 culprit of silent indoor leaks.

  • yard

    3. Sprinklers & Fixtures

We'll do a visual inspection of your outdoor and mechanical systems.

Check 1 of 3

The Meter Test

The easiest way to confirm an active leak is by checking your water meter. Ensure no water is currently being used inside or outside your home (no washing machines, sprinklers, or running taps).

Locate your water meter (usually in the basement) and look at the dial. Do you see the low-flow indicator (a small red triangle or star) spinning, or do the numbers continue to increase?

Check 2 of 3

The Toilet Dye Test

Whether your meter is spinning constantly, or only catching intermittent usage, toilet flappers are the #1 cause of hidden water waste.

  1. Remove the tank lid from the back of your toilet.
  2. Place a few drops of food coloring directly into the water inside the tank.
  3. Do not flush. Start the timer below and wait exactly 15 minutes.
  4. Check the toilet bowl. If you see the dye color in the bowl, your flapper is leaking!

Check 3 of 3

Sprinklers & Fixtures

Take a quick walk around your property to visually inspect these other common leak sources:

  • faucet

    Dripping Faucets & Showerheads

A slow drip (just 1 drop per second) can waste over 3,000 gallons a year. Check all sinks and tubs.

  • water_heater

    Water Heater Relief Valve

Check the side of your water heater. The Temperature & Pressure (T&P) valve can fail and dump water directly into a floor drain silently.

  • grass

    Irrigation Valve Boxes

Check the green plastic boxes in your yard. Pooling water or excessive mud inside indicates a cracked valve or failing seal.
