The Suffolk County Water Authority is seeking a Senior IT Technician to offer seasoned support and guidance to both IT Technicians and end-users with well-developed troubleshooting skills and proficiency in resolving complex issues pertaining to desktop computers, laptops, and associated hardware and software. This position would require travel to remote sites to assist with the delivery, repair, or replacement of computer equipment. Proficiency in computer imaging, networking concepts, server architecture, scripting, etc. are essential for the Senior IT Technician role.

Description:
Essential (Primary) Duties and Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to network connectivity, software applications, and system performance.
- Provide supplementary helpdesk support for IT Technicians assisting Authority end-users.
- Assist in the installation and set-up process of new computer equipment.
- Manage, update, and validate the software library and deployment scripts as well as image deployment services.
- Manage, update, and maintain configurations, apps, and security policies for corporate smartphones (MDM).
- Assist the Application/Server Administrator and IT Manager with supporting services and IT projects.
- Plan and manage upgrades, repairs, and the lifecycle of computer hardware and software.
- Research and develop new techniques that will benefit IT operations and Authority end-users.
- Inventory and maintain surplus computer equipment.
- Document and update software and hardware procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or equivalent) required.
- 2-3 years’ relevant experience in a Senior IT Technician role.
- Proven expertise in project management, with a strong track record of leading and contributing to IT projects.
- Experienced understanding of computer networks and interfaces (LAN/WLAN/WWAN).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and troubleshooting utilities; Event Viewer, Resource Monitor, etc.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows Server: Active Directory, file and print servers, deployment services, etc.
- Proficiency with Office 365, Azure AD and Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune) for Mobile Device Management.
- Proficiency in PowerShell and writing PowerShell scripts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience in technical writing.
- Must be capable of multi-tasking and prioritizing projects and tasks.
- Must be a proactive self-starter with a proven ability to independently advance projects and take initiative to see them through to successful completion
- Standard valid drivers’ license required.
Applicant’s typical work schedule will be Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Salary for this position will be commensurate with education and experience within a range of $70-80k.
