Description:

SCWA is currently seeking a Water Quality Supervisor to assist within our Production Control Department. This position is responsible for the supervision and operation of treatment processes including filtration systems and chemical treatments. This individual will also be expected to evaluate customer complaints regarding water quality and respond when necessary.

Responsibilities Include:
• Oversee daily operation of complex treatment processes (Iron Removal, GAC, AOP, Ion Exchange) to ensure they are operating properly by monitoring filter system parameters and review of operator logs. Identify maintenance and operational issues. Coordinate repairs with other PC trades and engineering. Identify and implement annual preventative maintenance programs to service the treatment systems in the off season.
• Complete required reports to NY State and County agencies for regulatory compliance related to backwash water discharge.
• Provide training for PC operational staff and other SCWA employees on treatment systems.
• Conduct technical review and testing of new treatment process. Commission new treatment systems.
• Field analysis and troubleshooting of water treatment problems relating to pH control and disinfection at pump stations. Make recommendations to improve the treatment.
• Analyze customer complaints related to water quality to identify problems with treatment processes.
• Rotating on-call supervision of Production Control Department.

Qualifications:
• Bachelors’ Degree in engineering or physical scientific field with chemistry courses.
• 5 years - experience in treatment operations and thorough understanding of water treatment practices – conventional and emerging. Knowledge of water chemistry, hydraulics and treatment process design
• Basic computer skills – proficient in MS Office and similar programs.
• Good verbal, written, communication and organizational skills. Be able to handle multiple priorities and daily changing priorities.
• Must work effectively with operational staff, trades, laboratory and engineering staff to accomplish treatment goals.
• Grade 2B WTPO License or ability to obtain one.
