The Suffolk County Water Authority recently completed work on a major project to replace approximately 2,900 feet of aging cast iron water main along Shore Road in East Setauket. The existing pipe had experienced numerous breaks, disrupting service for customers in the area. SCWA targeted the main for replacement with more durable ductile iron water main—improving reliability and service for customers.

“This project was another important step in our ongoing efforts to upgrade aging infrastructure and ensure reliable water service for our customers,” said SCWA Chairman Charlie Lefkowitz. “We’re being proactive and protecting both the quality of our water and the strength of our distribution system.”

Brookhaven Town Superintendent of Highways Dan Losquadro also praised the project. “Infrastructure improvements like this are essential to the safety and well-being of our community,” Losquadro said. “I’m pleased that SCWA decided to coordinate with the Brookhaven Highway Department on the completion of this work in advance of our upcoming road improvement project that will increase storm resilience of this vulnerable shoreline.”
