SCWA contractors install new ductile iron water main along Montauk Highway in East Moriches.
The Suffolk County Water Authority recently completed the installation of approximately 3,200 feet of new ductile iron water main along Montauk Highway in East Moriches. The project connected existing sections of main to eliminate dead ends in the system, improving water flow and overall quality for customers.
“This project enhances both water quality and reliability for the East Moriches community,” said SCWA Chief Executive Officer Jeff Szabo. “By eliminating dead ends, we’ve improved circulation and ensured residents continue to receive the highest quality drinking water possible.”
SCWA’s distribution system relies on constantly moving water to prevent sediment build up. Areas that don’t have continuous flow require extra flushing to ensure it delivers the highest quality water possible. By installing additional pipes to connect parts of the distribution system, SCWA will improve water flow and quality for its customers.
