Description:

SCWA is currently seeking an Associate Civil Engineer to assist within our Engineering Department. This position is responsible for Civil Engineering designs pertaining to the construction of new Waterworks Facilities including the buildings required to house water filtration systems, chemical, control systems, wells, and booster pumps. The position also includes performing Civil design work involving the renovation, repair and maintenance of existing Waterworks Facilities including water storage tank rehabilitation and maintenance.

Responsibilities Include:
• Prepares Civil designs of new Masonry and Metal Building Construction which includes the drafting of design drawings and preparation of Contract Specifications and Bid Documents.
• Prepares Civil design drawings and specifications for tank rehabilitation contracts as well as routine maintenance and additions to SCWA storage tanks.
• Prepares Civil designs, contract drawings and specifications associated with building construction, foundation designs and miscellaneous civil work.
• Performs Field inspection of new building construction and the repair/maintenance of existing buildings and water tanks.
• Reviews Contractor's submittals and shop drawings associated with building construction and Tank renovation work.
• Reviews Contractor Invoices and writes SAP Service Entry Sheets for payment and approval by Supervisor.
• Prepares budgetary cost estimates and SAP sub-orders for various civil related projects for approval by Supervisor.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field required, emphasis on Structural Engineering preferred.
• P. E License or eligibility preferred
• 5 years’ experience in Civil/Structural engineering with working knowledge of construction standards
• Proficient in Auto-Cad Drafting, MS Office, SAP, good organizational skills, excellent spoken and written communications.
• Conduct and work in a professional manner to resolve construction conflicts with Contractors, Manufacturers, Suppliers, etc.
