Program Overview
The Suffolk County Water Authority maintains nearly 400,000 customer accounts. Each customer has a service line connecting home plumbing to the public water system, and each of these connections must be documented in a comprehensive lead service line inventory required under revisions to the federal Lead and Copper Rule.
Transparency empowers homeowners, buyers and local governments to identify and address potential lead risks. Ultimately, the most effective way to reduce lead risk is to remove the source.
