The Suffolk County Water Authority has created a Division of Strategic Initiatives to help lead its transformation into a model utility that embraces new technologies and seeks to make its operations more sustainable, productive and efficient.

Directing the new division will be SCWA Lead Hydrogeologist Ty Fuller, who will be responsible for overseeing Strategic Plan 2025, which provides a blueprint for SCWA’s continued transformation over the course of the next decade. The division will also oversee an underway water conservation effort focused primarily on the East End; act as a project manager for the implementation of mobile workforce technology, a key component of Strategic Plan 2025; continue the development of the Long Island Commission for Aquifer Protection’s landmark WaterTraq contaminant mapping initiative; and further SCWA’s sustainability efforts, among other responsibilities.

Richard Bova, who, among other duties serves as co-leader of SCWA’s Emergency Management Office, will serve as deputy director of the Division of Strategic Initiatives.

"Instead of hiring a new director of sustainability to replace Carrie Meek Gallagher, I’ve decided to expand the position to incorporate many additional responsibilities vital to our future success," said Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey W. Szabo. "Ty brings to the table a winning attitude, fresh ideas and a comprehensive knowledge of his many new responsibilities. The Board and I expect great things from him."

"It’s an exciting time to be working at the Suffolk County Water Authority and I’m delighted to accept the challenges of my new assignment," said Fuller.

The Suffolk County Water Authority is an independent public-benefit corporation operating under the authority of the Public Authorities Law of the State of New York.  Serving approximately 1.2 million Suffolk County residents, the Authority operates without taxing power on a not-for-profit basis.
