The Suffolk County Water Authority recently participated in a joint operational exercise at an SCWA pump station in Hauppauge with the New York State Army National Guard 24th Civil Support Team (CST), which provides a rapid response capability to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, high explosive and other man-made or natural disaster events. The exercise, believed to be one of the first of its kind, involved having a mock intruder seeking to threaten the water supply to test CST members response protocols.
