The Suffolk County Water Authority on Tuesday, July 12 will begin a two-week water main replacement project on Eaton’s Neck Road as part of an ongoing effort to improve water pressure in the Eaton’s Neck community.

The project, between Steers Avenue and Ocean Avenue, will require detours around the project site for the duration of the work from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays as that portion of Eaton’s Neck Road will be closed to traffic. However, access will be permitted to those seeking to use the Soundview boat ramp or adjacent soccer park. There will be ample signage alerting motorists to the detour routes, as well as personnel stationed at key intersections.

The project will involve the replacement of 1,456 feet of old and undersized water main with new ductile iron pipe between 8 inches and 16 inches wide. The new pipe will help to improve water pressure to the Eaton’s Neck peninsula.

For further information about the project or detours, residents should call SCWA Director of Communications Tim Motz at (631) 445-0562.

The Suffolk County Water Authority is an independent public-benefit corporation operating under the authority of the Public Authorities Law of the State of New York.  Serving approximately 1.2 million Suffolk County residents, the Authority operates without taxing power on a not-for-profit basis.
