Effective immediately, the Suffolk County Water Authority has ended a drinking water warning for the Fire Island communities of Ocean Bay Park and Point O’ Woods. Drinking water in those communities is now safe to drink, and residents no longer need to boil water to ensure its safety.
 
The Suffolk County Water Authority issued a drinking water warning for Ocean Bay Park and Point O’ Woods on Saturday evening after E. coli bacteria were found in water supply samples collected at Ocean Bay Park. Subsequent tests by the Suffolk County Water Authority and Suffolk County of Department of Health Services have indicated no presence of E. coli bacteria in the water supply.
