How SCWA Customers With Inside Water Meters Can Save a Dollar Each Quarter and Eliminate Estimated Meter Readings

If you have an inside water meter and receive a consumer meter reading card every three months, you can read your own meter and call in your reading on any touch-tone phone, using a toll-free number 1-800-READ-H20 (1-800-732-3426), and receive a dollar credit on your next bill. If you do not have access to a touch-tone phone, you can mail in your reading on your postage-paid consumer meter reading card and receive a 50 cent credit on your next bill. Your participation eliminates estimated readings and keeps meter reading costs reasonable. Help keep our rates among the lowest in New York State.

Try the system

You can check your account balance, last transaction, and date of process with your touch-tone telephone. Simply call 1-800-READ-H20 (1-800-732-3426). Select "Option 2", then enter your account number located at the bottom of your bill. It's quick and easy!

Also... another feature of our Read H20 Program is an automated Call-Out System. We now have the capability to notify our customers in the event of a water emergency or a disruption in service due to necessary maintenance of our system. So, if our computer calls, listen to the message; it's important information about your water service!

If you have an inside residential meter and have received an estimated water bill-

You can call our 1-(800)-READ-H20 line to enter your actual meter reading. Within a few days the adjustment will be posted to your account and, if warranted, a corrected bill forwarded!

Instructions for reading meter

This READ-H20 system is available to all customers having an inside water meter, though all are welcome to try the demonstration. If you are calling from area code 212, 718, 516, or 631 you may call our toll free number 1-800-READ-H20 (1-800-732-3426); all other area codes must dial 1-631-589-0159.

Once connected, you may choose option 1(enter a meter reading) or option 2 (check account status).

If you selected option 1 (enter a meter reading):
When you are prompted to:
Enter your security code- please enter 8888 9993
Enter your meter reading- key in a value over 299,999 and under 700,000 (if you key a reading less than 300,000 or over 699,999 you will get an error message)

It's as simple as that! So, the next time you receive your meter reading notification card, call in your reading and you will earn a $1.00 CREDIT toward your bill!!

If you selected option 2(check your account status), you must enter your security codelocated at the bottom of your water bill.
