Hydrant Permit Application Procedure
In order to apply for the use of a SCWA hydrant permit, please complete the online application. Once your application has been submitted and reviewed, a representative of SCWA will contact you to schedule an appointment. Vehicle inspection(s) will be performed by appointment in the following locations:
Customer Service Center, 2045 Route 112, Suite 5, Coram (Phone (631) 698-9500)
Construction Maintenance Bldg, 4060 Sunrise Hwy, Oakdale (Phone (631) 563-0266)
Permits will be issued when all of the following requirements are met:
A. Name, address and telephone number of the company must be permanently affixed on both sides of the vehicle (minimum 3" lettering).
B. Vehicle must be equipped with an adjustable hydrant wrench, an air gap two times the diameter of the fill pipe, and a 1.5-inch fill pipe gate or ball valve permanently mounted on the fill pipe (If the tank is not fitted with filler pipe and air gap, a Reduced Pressure Zone Assembly (RPZ) must be permanently mounted on the vehicle and a copy of a current passing test form must be presented (even if the RPZ is newly purchased).
C. A copy of the vehicle registration must be presented to SCWA representative.
D. Pesticide applicators must provide a copy of New York State pesticide business/agency registration to SCWA representative.
E. For permit types without a vehicle inspection, an RPZ is required. The RPZ and current passing test form must be brought to the designated SCWA office.
Check or Money Order will be accepted at both locations for the designated fee(s). Cash will only be accepted at our Customer Service Center in Coram.
